9 Silly questions we’ve been asked about VR

Virtual Reality is heaps of fun for newbies and seasoned gamers alike. Whether you’re looking for a group VR experience with the friends and fam, or a fun date night activity, VR offers a unique and enjoyable way to socialise and enjoy the wonders of technology.

Nonetheless, your first VR adventure can be a little bit daunting, so it’s natural to have a few questions…

Sometimes however, those questions are a little… strange

Read on to hear about some of our favourite slightly silly questions and queries about our Virtual Reality Experience!

1: How do you look around?

While it might seem self-explanatory, some people need a bit of a nudge to get the gist of how your VR headset works.

So to clarify, to look around in VR you simply need to move your head as if you were looking around in the real world.

Logical, right?

2: Can I bring my baby into the VR experience

No!

I can’t believe I even have to answer this.

Click here to see why it would be wildly irresponsible to do so.

3: If I die in game, will it hurt?

Those of you who have watched Sword Art Online will think that this is a valid question (I guess)

Fortunately, the answer is no. What happens in the Virtual World stays in the Virtual World.

4: Why can’t I see my shoes

To experience Virtual Reality, you need to equip your VR headset. While some headsets offer pass-through functionality, the point of VR is to immerse you in a Virtual World.

So to answer the question, you can’t see your shoes because your eyes are covered…

5: I can’t see my pod anymore

Again, your eyes are covered…

6: Where does the headset go?

Here’s a hint: it’s in the name.

The VR headset goes over your eyes, comfortably resting on your nose & brow, with an adjustable strap that loops over and around your head.

Almost like a really large pair of swimming goggles.

7: Do I need this?

Referring to the VR headset & Controllers.

Yes, you do.

8: How do I go backwards?

This actually is a valid question to some extent.

The beauty of VR, unlike traditional 2D media, is that you can move in the same way you would in real life!

While you can choose to reverse like a pickup truck, it’s usually easier (and safer) to just turn around.

9: How do I swap my hands

If your controllers are somehow in the wrong hands, the best thing to do is just swap them over.

You do not, I repeat, DO NOT, need to play with your arms folded over each-other!

Glad we got that all cleared up!

Jokes aside, hopefully this answers some of the questions you might have been too embarrassed to ask at one of our London or Birmingham VR venues.

Or maybe you just like to laugh at the mistakes of others...

Either way, you should now be ready to embark on your first journey into the metaverse - whether you’re looking to blast zombies or cook up a storm, the knowledge contained herein will ensure that your first trip into the multi-verse goes smoothly.
